
The La Selva Integrated Centre of the Vallès, covering a gross area of 44.2 hectares, is the high-turnover logistics platform of the Barcelona metropolitan region. It was promoted by the Catalan Government through the CIMALSA public company with the aim of offering a space with optimum conditions of location and service for road goods transport companies. It is strategically situated in the municipality of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, between two major communication links: the AP-7 and the C-33. Since it came into operation in 1997 hectares it has become a key goods distribution point, primarily in Spain, but with a clear export component.
The CIM Vallès is designed especially for high-rotation logistics activity, and it has 209,000 m2. of warehouses and handling yards, and the rest devoted to roadways, parking zones and services for the companies and carriers.
The CIM is a closed site with two controlled accesses, one to the north by the AP-7, and another to the south by the C-33. The CIM has surveillance and security facilities, such as access control, with vehicle licence plate recognition, and CCTV, which is further reinforced by security personnel 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As well as this surveillance and security service, and to ensure the perfect state of repair of the Centre, the complete maintenance services of the facilities, gardening, road cleaning and selective waste collection are contracted collectively.
The CIM currently houses over seventy logistics and services companies; its activity generates a movement of over 242,000 vehicles a month, of which approximately 47% are lorries and the rest are vans and cars.
- In 1984, the Catalan Government published an initial study on the “Integrated Goods Centre in Catalonia” to create a first framework of reference on the characteristics of these centres and their possible introduction into Catalonia.
- In the late 1980s, the Catalan Government and Barcelona City Council agreed to tackle the possibility of offering an alternative location to the transport companies based in the Poblenou district.
- On 11 December 1991, an agreement was signed between the Minister for Regional Policy and the Mayor of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda for the implementation of the Integrated Goods Centre of the Vallès – CIM Vallès, on the town's Les Minetes industrial estate.
- At a meeting on 1 September 1992, the Administration of the Catalan Government adopted the Government Agreement authorising Incasòl to incorporate a limited company in light of the appropriateness of creating the instruments that enable greater efficiency in terms of land development and the provision of infrastructures and facilities to different industrial and services sectors in Catalonia for logistics uses.
- On 8 October 1992, "Centre Integral de Mercaderies i Activitats Logístiques, SA (CIMALSA)" was incorporated with the aim of providing infrastructures and facilities for the development of transport activities and goods logistics operations.
- On 28 July, Incasòl and CIMALSA signed an agreement commissioning CIMALSA to promote the Integrated Goods Goods Centre of the Vallès – CIM Vallès.
- On 10 June 1994, work started on the General Earth Movement of the Integrated Goods Goods Centre of the Vallès – CIM Vallès.
- On 1 June 1995, the amendment to the Les Minetes Partial Plan was given its final approval.
- On 21 March, 1997, the CIM Vallès was officially opened and the first companies moved there.

All the owners of was officially opened constitute the Supra-Association of Owners of the CIM Vallès with the aim of maintaining the platform in a good state and in optimal operating conditions. the Supra-Association is governed by the Statutes, which set out the rules of organisation and operation of the Centre. The most senior body of the Supra-Association is the General Assembly, which comprises all its owners, with the same rights and obligations. The decisions of the Assembly oblige both owners and users of the CIM .
The General Assembly of Owners of was officially opened appoints a Steering Committee, comprised of a minimum of five members and a maximum of nine, from which a Chairman, a Treasurer and an Accountant will be appointed. The Steering Committee meets regularly and is responsible for ensuring the good operation of the Centre. The Statutes of the Supra-Association also envisage the figure of the Administrator, who will carry out the administrative, accounting and management tasks that are required for the good progress of the Supra-Association and the Centre.

The public company of the Catalan Government, CIMALSA, acts as administrator of the Centre with the aim of maintaining the operation and functions that were initially designed. At the behest of the Steering Committee, CIMALSA contracts and manages all the collective services of the CIM: security, maintenance, gardening, cleaning and waste collection, etc., at all times ensuring its optimum operation.
